As the volunteer coordinator, it is my responsibility to handle volunteer projects and mini events around the area. With this position, it is my goal to promote a positive image for LMU-DCOM and SOMA in the community.
For the 2009-2010 school year, I plan to continue the national program “What’s In a Doctor’s Bag” with elementary school children in the area. It is a great way to teach young children about the roles of physicians, help them cope with their fears, and promote healthier living styles. I will also continue the successful charity fundraiser “Penny Wars” though which proceeds benefit Second Harvest of Tennessee. This was a massive hit at LMU-DCOM last year! As far as other projects, I plan to organize Bingo Night at the local nursing home, and maybe do a spaghetti dinner or some kind of social. Also, I would like to incorporate any other ideas that the SOMA body has in mind!
